Welcome to the home page of the Glasgow Real Ale Festival (G-RAF) run by the Glasgow and West of Scotland branch of CAMRA. The festival is usually held annually at The Briggait, near the River Clyde to the south of the city’s Merchant City area.
At the last G-RAF, held in 2019, we offered something for everyone with over a hundred and fifty real ales, ciders, and foreign beers available. In addition to the beers and ciders, meads from the Rookery, gins from Eden Mill and a small selection of wines were made available. The 2020 festival was planned to take place on the 18th to 20th June but unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, the National Executive of CAMRA announced on the 17th March 2020 that all CAMRA festivals due to take place before the end of June that year were cancelled, which included G-RAF 2020.
We were also unable to hold the festival in 2021 but we have now started planning G-RAF 2022. The provisional dates for the festival are Thursday, 16th to Saturday, 18th June and it will be held, once again, at The Briggait. The plans for the festival include two real ale bars, a KeyKeg, foreign and cider bar, a gin bar, a mead bar and a selection of wines.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid restrictions which came into force in Scotland on 26th December, our plans to hold a mini festival in the Glasgow area in January 2022 had to be put on hold. Now that restrictions are being lifted it is hoped that this smaller event may be able to take place in the spring, once again dependent on what restrictions are in place at the time.
