Welcome to the home page of the Glasgow Real Ale Festival (G-RAF) run by the Glasgow and West of Scotland branch of CAMRA. The festival is usually held annually at The Briggait, near the River Clyde to the south of the city’s Merchant City area.
At the last G-RAF, held in 2019, we offered something for everyone with over a hundred and fifty real ales, ciders, and foreign beers available. In addition to the beers and ciders, meads from the Rookery, gins from Eden Mill and a small selection of wines were made available. The 2020 festival was planned to take place on the 18th to 20th June but unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, the National Executive of CAMRA announced on the 17th March 2020 that all CAMRA festivals due to take place before the end of June that year were cancelled, which included G-RAF 2020.
We had been planning on holding G-RAF 2021 in mid June, once again at The Briggait, when we had intended to make a selection of drinks similar to G-RAF 2019 available. However due to the continuing coronavirus restrictions we do not believe that it will be possible to hold a traditional beer festival at that time, so we have no alternative but to cancel G-RAF 2021.
There may be a possibility of some sort of event being held towards the end of the summer or early autumn and we are currently looking at various options. Planning is at a very early stage and will be dependant on what restrictions are in place at the time.
